All about Florence

Who We Are

As one of Japan’s largest certified NPOs in the fields of child welfare and child rearing, Florence is committed to changing the future of Japan by developing various projects nationwide that address social issues surrounding parents and children, and by recommending relevant policies.

Our Vision

A society where those living today and the children who will be born in the future can walk hand in hand with hope. Let's move toward an exciting future.

Our goal is to build a society where people have confidence about the future.
A society where individuals are respected by everyone in it, where they can move forward at their own pace with a sense of hope, where they are connected to somewhere they can rely on and belong to, and where each person who follows their own path is supported and encouraged.

Our Mission

Together, let's create businesses, change systems, and establish cultural behavior, to introduce a "new normal" for the future.

Florence approaches social issues from three aspects: business, political systems, and culture. First, we start a new business to address a specific problem. Then, we make recommendations to improve the old ways that do not fit the present reality in order to develop improved businesses and to bring the services to more people. As the new businesses and new systems are used by more people, they will eventually take root in our society becoming part of our culture and commonplace.

About us

Company name

Florence,Inc.

Origin of the name

The name “Florence” comes from Florence Nightingale, who was a nurse, social entrepreneur, and statistician. During the wars in which she served, she discovered that more soldiers were dying from disease than from combat, and that the cause of disease was poor sanitation in hospitals. She proved with statistics what was happening right before her eyes. She lobbied the Minister of War to improve the environment in hospitals.
In the 1800s, when Florence Nightingale was active, she redefined the role of nurses, who had previously worked as doctors' servants, as medical professionals. She established and managed a nursing school. By adopting our namesake’s innovative spirit, we at Florence would like to update the old systems and values concerning parents and children in Japan. This concept of determination is part of our organization’s name.
