Florence has been participating in the Tokyo Marathon Charity since 2019. For the Tokyo Marathon 2025, 71 charity runners registered as Florence charity runners.
Florence’s Red-Afro Staff Cheered from the Sidelines!
On race day, Sunday, March 2, the temperature soared above 20°C, bringing an early summer heat. The Florence cheering squad took their positions at the Jinbocho intersection early in the morning, eagerly awaiting the arrival of the runners.
Just 20 minutes after the start, the leading runners dashed past! Waving red afro wigs, red cheering flags, and stick balloons, we shouted, ‘Go, go!’ to each runner as they passed.
Later, we moved to the 38km mark near Tokyo Tower, continuing to cheer on the runners braving the unseasonable heat.
Hospitality at the Charity Booth and Individual Lounge
After about three hours from the start, runners began arriving at the charity booth set up at the Tokyo International Forum. Many charity runners stopped by Florence’s booth, greeting us with smiles.
Additionally, in our effort to provide a place where charity runners, their families, and friends could relax, we set up an individual charity lounge in a conference room within the Tokyo International Forum. Continuing from last year, we collaborated with a treatment clinic to offer sports massages, allowing runners to take a moment to rest and recover.
The Thoughts Behind Every Charity Run
At Florence, we give each charity runner a special bib in advance, encouraging them to write down the thoughts and motivations behind their charity run as they take part in the race.
This year, at the Tokyo Marathon 2025 EXPO held from February 27 to March 1, we had the chance to hear the thoughts of the charity runners about their participation in Tokyo Marathon 2025.
Reflecting on the Tokyo Marathon 2025 Charity
It’s almost been a year since the Tokyo Marathon 2025 charity runner registration began in May 2024. Over the past year, many runners have continued their training for the marathon, traveled from all over Japan and the world to Tokyo, and run for the children supported by Florence. We want to express our heartfelt respect and gratitude to all the runners who participated. Thank you so much!
To those who, unfortunately, were unable to participate as charity runners due to the capacity limit, we deeply appreciate your support and spirit.
Lastly, we would like to sincerely thank all the volunteers who graciously “hosted” the charity runners in fluent foreign languages at the Tokyo Marathon 2025 EXPO, the charity booth, and the individual charity lounge at the Tokyo International Forum.
Florence will participate in the Tokyo Marathon 2026 Charity.
